Other ways to give

Virginia Income Tax Credits

Take advantage of two Virginia programs that allow you to receive credits on your state taxes in exchange for qualifying donations to Rise Academy:

  • Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP): for donations to nonprofits serving low-income individuals

  • Education Improvement Scholarship Program (EIS): for donations toward scholarships for students from low-income households to attend independent schools in Virginia, like Rise Academy

With a gift for tax credits, which are valued at 65% of the donation, you’re able to support student scholarships while also realizing significant tax savings.

Some donors use the tax benefit to multiply their annual giving to Rise Academy.. Others use these programs to redirect their state tax liability to Rise. Depending on individual tax situations, these programs can return up to 84% of the value of a cash gift in tax savings and potentially up to 100% of the value of a stock gift, depending on cost basis.

At a glance:

  • Minimum/maximum annual donation for individuals: $500/$125,000

  • Minimum/maximum annual donation for businesses: $616/unlimited

  • Eligible donations: cash, marketable securities, and retirement account distributions

  • Ineligible donations: gifts from donor-advised funds or foundations

  • Tax credits may be carried over for five succeeding years

Please consult your tax professional or financial advisor to evaluate how these programs can impact your individual tax situation.
